donut heaven

I realise that so far the thing I like most about Spain is the food, but we have been doing a lot of eating. Today, after we wandered through the Gothic quarter and Born and visited the Mercat de Santa Caterina (where I saw a stall selling sheep heads...with eyes),

and ate tapas beside the Esglesia de Santa Maria del Mar (a Catalan Gothic church with lovely stained glass windows),

Mum and I stopped for churros with xocolata. These are Spanish donuts that you dip in chocolate. They were very delicious but very rich. I had to leave one behind.

We have found a park near our apartment and we go most afternoons when all the local kids have finished school. It's fun making friends when you don't speak the language!
